Wasn't it great to wake up this morning and realize it had all been a terrible— oh, right.

The results of Tuesday night's general election spurred protests across the nation yesterday, including an evening march through Ybor City. More protests are planned in the Bay area for this evening and weekend. Guess Disney's gonna have to imagineer up some creative full-time security when the newest member of the Hall of Presidents arrives.

Hillsborough's Public Transportation Commission voted to adopt a temporary agreement allowing Uber and Lyft to operate legally in the county. It continues to be a complex issue, at least in the theoretical and legislative senses — check out the article if you're interested in the details. (Not interested in the complex theoretical and legislative details: Uber and Lyft.)

And finally, after a five-hour meeting, Lakeland city commissioners decided not to take any action toward lessening punishments for those caught with small amounts of marijuana. This inaction bucks the trend in more progressive Bay area communities toward what's half-incorrectly being called "decriminalization" — but you gotta remember Lakeland is in Polk County Sheriff "Grandstandin'" Grady Judd's jurisdiction, and then you gotta not be surprised at all. Maybe that Lakeland woman who just won an $18 million Lotto jackpot can pay all the kids' legal fees, or something.
