Good St. Pete Election Day morning to you all. We have about 12 hours until some of our Facebook friends start bitching (again) that the system is rigged, then go on to sit out the general. If you live in the Sunshine City and have yet to cast a ballot, go on, git! Polls close at 7.

As mentioned above, there will likely be a November runoff between the top two vote-getters in the St. Pete election…assuming there's not…ya know.

In other should-be-alarming news, Houston is still facing heavy rain and flooding as the remnants of Hurricane Harvey head east. Though Tampa Bay isn't in the crosshairs of this particular storm, this is our concern, dude.

Believe it or not, a misunderstanding between police and restaurant personnel in Polk County over the weekend led to a bunch of people spewing vitriol in various directions on the internet. The incident itself involved uniformed officers walking into the crowded restaurant with friends to watch the Mayweather-McGregor fight, and staff asking them to come back later under the assumption the officers were there to serve warrants, and it happened Saturday. As of Monday, despite its now being understood to have been due to a miscommunication, if a regrettable one, random people on the internet were still putting in their misguided two cents. Which, though rather long-winded, should really be America's motto nowadays.

In another corner of the internet on Monday, online rage was at least somewhat properly channeled. This came in the wake of mega-rich mega-church guy Joel Osteen closing the doors of his cavernous Houston church due to Hurricane Harvey, and announcing the move on social media…only to have photos surface suggesting the building was bone dry and probably could have held thousands of evacuees. Good thing Osteen and crew aren't obligated to adhere to a set of guiding principles that include generosity and sacrifice or anything.
