Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center are monitoring a disturbed area east of Florida that has a 60 percent chance of forming into the first named storm of the 2019 hurricane season.

Meteorologists are currently looking at a trough of low pressure moving northeastward between the Bahamas and Bermuda. According to the NHC, the system could become a short-lived tropical storm or cyclone by Monday tonight or Tuesday.

If the system does develop into a named storm, it will be called Andrea.

However, don’t expect Andrea to stick around, as forecasters predict a cold front will create unfavorable conditions for the system by Wednesday.

The Atlantic hurricane season officially begins June 1.

UPDATE: The NHC now says the system has a 70 percent chance of forming into a tropical storm.
