Starting this fall, it’s going to be a lot easier to hop across the pond.

This morning, Virgin Atlantic announced new direct flights from Tampa International Airport (TPA) to London Heathrow (LHR), beginning Nov. 3.  The year-round flights will depart four times per week, and will become daily starting Nov. 28.

“Florida is very much a firm favourite for our customers ever since our first flight to Miami back in 1986,” said Juha Järvinen, chief commercial officer at Virgin Atlantic in a statement. With the popular theme parks and the stunning beaches of St Pete and Clearwater within easy reach, we know it’s an area our customers will love to explore.”

The new direct service will be available to book on July 13.

A spokesperson for Virgin told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay that economy fares start at about $637 roundtrip.
