WARREN ZEVON

Zevon's in top form here, in his prime, fronting a fiery five-piece. Originally broadcast by WMMR-FM, the nearly two-hour gig finds the acerbic singer/songwriter ripping through romps like "Excitable Boy," "Poor Poor Pitiful Me," "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead" and "Lawyers, Guns and Money." He displays his sensitive side — and underrated vocal chops — on the somber "Accidentally Like a Martyr" and "Mohammed's Radio." The old warhorse "Werewolves of London" even sounds fresh and vital. "This is one of the best audiences I have ever seen," Zevon tells the enthusiastic crowd. "I may go berserk!"
