A St. Petersburg home designed by influential local architect Sanford M. Goldman is now on the market in the Jungle Terrace neighborhood.
Goldman, who passed away last September, studied under Frank Lloyd Wright for two years in the late-1950s at the Taliesin fellowship in Wisconsin, and is behind quite a few notable local buildings, like the Hernando County government center, numerous schools throughout Florida, and a number of impressive midcentury-modern homes throughout Tampa Bay.
This particular one, located at 8401 36th Ave. N, was built in 1965 for the late dentist and Florida Republican State Rep. Laurent W. Belanger, and his wife Carol.
The 3,298-square-foot waterfront home is a solid example of Goldman's trademark use of glass walls and courtyards, and comes with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, as well as an office, cedar finishes, an open fireplace, an oversized two-car garage, a pool, and more.
In 2018, then-St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman issued a proclamation recognizing Goldman's accomplished 50 year career and his contributions to midcentury-modern architecture.
According to property records, the home has never been on the market, and is currently asking $2,375,000. The listing agent is Lisa Romano and Michelle Palaganas of Gulf Bay Realty.
