An original Davis Islands mansion owned by one of the early leaders of Tampa Electric Co. is now on the market.
Located at 54 Aegean Ave., the Mediterranean-style estate was built in 1925 for late civic leader and TECO president Francis J. Gannon and his wife Grace.
The 5,876-square-foot home has since been fully renovated, and now comes with six bedrooms and sox bathrooms, as well as a Sonos sound system, a heated saltwater pool, a full-house generator, and more.
A native of Boston, Gannon came to Tampa in 1926 to work as the vice president and treasurer of D.P. Davis' development company Davis Islands, Inc. He later joined TECO in 1931 as VP, until he was promoted to president in 1946 by the company's founder Peter O. Knight, who is the namesake of the nearby Peter O. Knight Airport.
Gannon passed away in 1954 at the age of 67.
The Gannon residence is currently asking $4.25 million, and the listing agent is Steven Saltzberg of Saltzberg & Associates.
