After making a splash in 2021 with a folky acoustic blues record on Fat Possum, Carl “Buffalo” Nichols went psychedelic for the 2023 follow-up.

The Fatalist continues to bring the time-tested American art form to the modern day thanks to 808s, synthesizer, chopped-up samples, and stoner-rock, too. Named a “new guitar great” by Garden & Gun and one of the Recording Academy’s “5 Younger Musicians Keeping The Blues Alive,” the 35-year-old takes down bootstrap capitalism (“The Fatalist Blues”), pays homage to Blind Willie Johnson (“You’re Gonna Need Somebody On Your Bond”), and takes a dip in optimism, too (“Love is All”).

This show was originally booked at Bayboro Brewing Co., but has since moved to the St. Pete Shuffleboard Club two miles away.

Tickets to see Buffalo Nichols at St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club in St. Petersburg on Friday, May 29 are still available and start at $18.
